How To's and Site Operation Information

Managing the site may seem like a daunting task at first, so this section aims at alleviating the burden of simply "knowing" all of these things with guides aimed at accomplishing goals on a task-by-task basis.  If something you are looking to do is not here, please send me a private message, and I will attempt to simplify the task, or provide a quick guide to it.

Creating books and pages.

All of the top level sections here are called Books.  Every book can contain a nearly limitless amount of Pages.  A Page is simply an article posted by a user that is bound to a book and placed within its heirarchy. The heirarchy is a standard tree model with your book being the trunk and each page being a potential branch.

To create a new book:

  1. On the Admin bar, hover over Content Management
  2. Hover over Create Content
  3. Click on Book Page
  4. Fill out the Title field with the name you want the book to have.
  5. *Optional* Fill in the tags and body.
  6. Scroll down to the Book Outline section, and click it to open it.
  7. Under the Book Dropdown menu select, <Create a New Book>
  8. *Optional*  Select a weight, lower numbers cause the book to be listed higher up. (more weight causes the title to sink)
  9. Click the Save button to complete it, add child pages as you like.

To add pages to a book:

  1. Navigate to any page within the book, including the top page.
  2. Scroll down and click on the Add Child Page link near the bottom left.
  3. Fill in the Title, tags, and Body as needed.
  4. Click Save to post it.

Posting an article to the front page

Sometimes it may be necessary to post information to the front page of the website.  This is actually very easy to do once you know how to do it!

To start off, you can create a new forum topic, a blog entry, or a poll.  While you are creating the blog, topic, or poll, simply enter one of the following terms in to the "Tags" field depending on which best describes the post.

news
event
announcement

Thats all there is to it!  Happy posting!
